Arriving as the first update to the 991 silhouette, we welcome the New Balance 991v2 – marking the beginning of what we predict will be a legendary line. Blending the Boston-based iconic heritage with a streamlined design and FuelCell technology, the model couldn’t have started on a better foot.
There’s no better way to honour a brand-spanking-new release than with a campaign film, especially when it features someone like Massimo Bottura. If you’re not familiar with the globally acclaimed Michelin Star chef, well, get to know! As well as turning up the heat in the kitchen, Bottura also takes the title of avid New Balance fan, rarely seen without sporting a pair. How can he not when owning over 100 pairs? The short film follows the 991v2’s journey from the factory to the bustling streets of Milan, ending up with its new owner, you guessed it, Massimo Bouttra. Featuring a special cameo from London’s national treasure Loyle Carner amongst other NB friends, the videography perfectly captures the 991’s Italian heritage.
Boasting a refined exterior of neutral tones, this versatile silhouette makes the ideal go-to for laid-back styling. Situated atop a grey breathable mesh, pigskin suede overlays adopt a ‘Rock Ridge’ hue. Keeping things complimentary to the base, ‘Alloy’ and ‘Silver’ shades flood the “N” emblem and branding. Blue accents add a pop of colour into the mix, albeit muted, highlighting the off-white midsole that grounds the upper. Finally, darker hues within the heel detailing and outsole round-off the silhouette to achieve a perfect degree of depth and dynamic.
