As we know, Ronnie Fieg is a man of many talents. From owning streetwear powerhouse Kith, to claiming the prestigious title of the New York Knicks’ first ever creative director; he’s got some clout under his belt. Being a Queens native himself, what better way to honour the team and his upbringing than with a collaborative capsule that references the world’s most famous arena’?! Without further introduction, we welcome the Kith x New Balance 990v6 ‘Madison Square Garden’ collection, consisting of two streamlined iterations.
Being that Fieg is a pro at his craft, it’s not surprising that this isn’t the first time he’s partnered with New Balance. It’s not even the second time. Killing the game with bangers such as the NB 997S and 993, the multi-hyphenate is now faced with a new offering, in the 990v6. Paying homage to the renowned NYC area associated with the Knicks since ‘68, each iteration reflects the colours of the ‘Home’ and ‘Away’ palette.
Looking at the first offering, a neutral scheme of beige, grey and white dance throughout the upper. Striking orange accents decorate the “N” emblem, tongue badge and heel, contrasting an assisting cobalt blue hue. The second pair of kicks differs significantly, opting for a darker upper of black and blue. Both sneakers utilise a ballistic mesh base, adorned with pigskin suede overlays for a dynamic flair. Rounding off the silhouette, custom insoles are equipped with special MCG branding.
The Kith x New Balance 990v6 is anticipated to drop within the coming weeks, via KITH, NEW BALANCE & SELECTED RETAILERS. If you’re feeling impatient (- we get it!), why not shop the latest from New Balance by clicking the banner below…
