After 13 long years, they’re back together: Liverpool FC and adidas. In the past, the Reds have sported adidas shirts on multiple occasions, but in recent years, it’s been Nike taking the reins. But come August 2025, that’s all set to change – and fans couldn’t be happier.
Football’s greatest love story gets a sequel. Liverpool FC and adidas have sealed the deal, bringing the iconic three stripes back to Anfield for the 2025/26 season – though die-hard fans had already caught wind of the news.
The sports giant will be supplying the match kits, training gear, and lifestyle clothing for all the men’s, women’s, and youth teams, plus the staff at the LFC Foundation.
The history between Liverpool FC and adidas runs deep. From 1985 to 1996, the club played in adidas kits, and the famous three stripes made their return between 2006 and 2012. During these golden years, Liverpool bagged numerous trophies, including three league titles and eleven domestic cups.
Those kits have gone down in history as some of the most cherished in the club’s legacy. No wonder the Kopites, as Liverpool fans are lovingly called, are buzzing for adidas’ return after years of Nike dominance.
Bjørn Gulden, CEO of adidas, about the partnership: “We’re thrilled that adidas and Liverpool Football Club are teaming up once more. The club is one of the biggest and most iconic names in world football with an enormous fan base. We’re honoured to once again provide the players with the cutting-edge technology to perform at the highest level.”
The timing couldn’t be better. Under the guidance of Arne Slot, Liverpool FC is currently topping the national league and has booked its spot in the knockout stage of the UEFA Champions League. The women’s team is also on a roll, cementing their place at the top of English women’s football.
Billy Hogan, CEO of Liverpool Football Club, shares in the excitement: “Everyone at the club is absolutely thrilled to welcome adidas back into the LFC family. We’ve had incredible success together in the past and created some of the most iconic LFC kits ever. It’s the perfect moment to team up again, and we’re looking forward to creating more legendary kits and building on our shared history both on and off the pitch.”
The first adidas kits will drop on August 1, 2025, in Liverpool’s classic colours. While there’s a good chance the partnership will see the return of some iconic sneakers, as was the case with Nike, we’ll have to wait and see if that part of the deal comes to life.
Starting August 1, 2025, Liverpool FC will be back in adidas jerseys. The club, also known as ‘The Reds’, has a long history with adidas, having worn their iconic kits in the past – shirts that remain some of the most cherished in the club’s history. After 13 years of Nike taking charge of the kits, adidas is making its return.
While there’s no official word yet on sneaker releases, given the past partnership with Nike, which saw several sneaker drops, we can (hopefully) expect something similar from adidas.
Liverpool FC’s anthem is “You’ll Never Walk Alone” by Gerry and the Pacemakers. The song was originally written by Rodgers & Hammerstein for the 1945 musical Carousel, but the 1963 version by the British band is considered the club’s official anthem.
