The new NIKE AIR HUARACHE CITY updates one of Nike’s most popular designs: the much-loved Air Huarache from 1991.
Straight from the creative mind of the legendary Tinker Hatfield, the Nike Air Huarache didn’t just turn heads when it dropped – it twisted them right off. Never before had anyone seen such an innovative running shoe, let alone one that was inspired by a chance observation that happened whilst water skiing. Incorporating influences and ideas from a variety of sources, other members of the Nike design team soon became involved as well – Michael Donohue, Sandy Bodecker and Mike Quinn – developing Tinker’s original concept into a genuine performance shoe. The design was such a hit that it soon found its way to basketball courts and subsequently the streets, where it earned its status as an icon.
For 2018, the Huarache evolves yet again, this time into the Air Huarache City. This new modern-day remix retains the signature neoprene construction but adds an adjustable strap system to offer a customised fit. This new system allows the wearer to thread the removable straps through the midfoot cage and heel loop: you can use one strap or both, or even go totally strap-free for a cleaner style. We’ve seen the Multi-Colour/Racer Pink/Vivid Sulphur/Black version here already (see here for a rundown on the recent Asia drop), but three new tonal editions have just launched closer to home: Desert Sand/White/Gum Light Brown, Neutral Olive/Black/Gum Light Brown and Black/Dark Grey/Gum Light Brown.
The NIKE AIR HUARACHE CITY is AVAILABLE NOW in a good size run (despite coming from the Women’s category). Click the banner below to get your pairs at NIKE now.
