Join us, as we take you through the Best Nike SB Sneaker Releases of 2023.
As 2023 comes to an end, we’re taking the time to look back on all of the incredible skate silhouettes brought to us by Nike SB. This year saw some crazy collaborations like the Supreme ‘Rammellzee’ capsule and Powerpuff Girls Dunks, as well as the re-release of solid colourways of ‘Black’ and ‘Wheat’. In this round-up, we’ll be listing our Top Drop of 2023, Close Second and Special Mention Nike SB sneakers, so continue reading to see what we decided on…
Kicking things off with our Top SB Drop – it’s the Nike SB Dunk Low Jarritos. Created in collaboration with Mexican soda brand Jarritos, this zesty duo quenched the thirst of both sneaker afiados and fashion connoisseurs through a textural design. Inspired by the distinctive hues of the Mexican soda brand, these kicks feature hemp overlays that cleverly conceal a vibrant orange layer beneath.
In elevating the uniqueness of this sneaker, Nike introduces custom insoles that proudly display the vibrant flavours of Jarritos, accompanied by two additional sets of laces. All assets arrive bundled within the fresh cream SB box, marking the commencement of a groundbreaking era for Nike’s skateboarding division.
Ranking close second, we had to give it to the Born x Raised x Nike Dunk Low SB ‘One Block at a Time’. Collaborating with the Los Angeles-based label Born X Raised, we see the classic Dunk silhouette with a twinkle in its eye – or Swoosh – flaunting an iridescent take on the emblem. Established in 2013 by Chris ‘Spanto’ Printup and Alex ‘2Tone’ Erdmann, Born X Raised, the brand champions the culture of its community through the creative outlets of clothing, films, and events.
Drawing inspiration from LA street culture within every facet of the construction, the offering delves into a ‘One Block at a Time’ perspective. From the artwork, to the palette, to the typography – each design element paints the story of the buzzing city. With compelling brand messaging and subtle details like the heat-printed ‘In Loving Memory’ dedication on the laces, the highly-exclusive release highlights the label’s dedication to honouring history while embracing the future.
Seeing as Nike SB is the Swoosh’s skateboarding division, we couldn’t do a Best Nike SB Sneaker Releases of 2023 round-up without mentioning Yuto Horigome and his streamlined take on the Nike SB Dunk Low. Born and bred in a neighbourhood in Tokyo, Yuto Horigome is one of the greatest professional skaters of his generation. Scoring the first-ever Olympic gold medal for skateboarding in the same town he grew up in, it’s safe to say that this collab is a true descent from greatness.
…And that concludes our top selections for an incredible year of Nike SB sneaker releases. Will the Swoosh smash it once again in 2024? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. Stay locked to our socials @thedropdate for the latest news & updates.
