Aries Meets the Salomon XT-Whisper

When London-based streetwear brand Aries (also known as ‘Aries Arise’) links up with French trail-running titan Salomon, you know it’s going to be bold. Their latest joint venture reimagines the Salomon XT-Whisper, a silhouette rooted in ‘80s and ‘90s running heritage, and dresses it in a way that feels equal parts nostalgic, experimental, and entirely modern.

Instead of just repainting the trail shoe, Aries brings a subversive twist: it layers vintage-look leather and suede over technical mesh, winds in gradient colour shifts, and throws in metallic foil details for futuristic flair. It’s a sneaker that feels like someone took a time machine from the dawn of running culture – but charged it for the year 2025.

A Closer Look at the Aries x Salomon XT-Whisper

‘Fiery Red’ (LI9063) / ‘Black’ (LI9063)

At first glance, the two colourways make very different statements. One is called ‘Fiery Red / Fuchsia Pink’, and it lives up to the name: a vibrant gradient mesh dances from soft pink to deep red, framed by suede overlays and punctuated by neon accents. The other colorway leans toward stealth mode: ‘Black / Earth Brown’, where black mesh and suede pair with rich brown leather and subtle orange–brown details for a more grounded, rugged look.

Aries doesn’t just play with colour – they also reinterpret Salomon’s performance tech. The classic Sensifit™ system, which normally hugs the foot to provide support, is given wavy, sculptural treatment. That’s paired with Salomon’s Quicklace™, so you retain that secure, trail-ready lockdown even within the fashion-forward design. Underneath all of that, a reinforced chassis – a staple of the XT line – keeps the silhouette rugged and stable.

Beyond the materials and structure, the campaign visuals deserve some love. Shot by Rollo Jackson, the imagery feels cinematic: moonlit forests, still water, and models moving like part of an otherworldly adventure. It captures the collision of sport and style, nature and city, nostalgia and the future.
