Fight the Power : Take a look at the SUPREME X UNDERCOVER X PUBLIC ENEMY collection.
Pioneering group Public Enemy forged a politically charged style of Hip-Hop that broke down barriers and advocated for change and justice in a climate of mid 1980’s socio-economic depression, particularly among African American communities suffering at the hands of Reagan-era policies. With the current incumbent administration riding to electoral victory on the echo’s of re-hashed Reagan slogans, attempting to dismantle the free press and pursuing radically and religiously discriminatory domestic policy, the spirit of Public Enemy’s music and message have never been as relevant as they are today.
PE’s third studio album ‘Fear of a Black Planet’ produced the anthemic ‘Fight the Power’ which levelled fierce criticism towards white supremacy and the suppression of free speech with irresistible force and fervour, and it’s this album and it’s original artwork that provides the inspiration for the collaborative collection. Work jackets, chinos, down vests and and a variety of Long and short sleeve graphic tees appear alongside an all over print Dr Marten’s shoe, pendents and a Fear of a Black Planet rug.
The SUPREME X UNDERCOVER X PUBLIC ENEMY COLLECTION is set to drop on MARCH 15th. Peep the images below to see what’s dropping…
