The History Of Mizuno

1906

Rihanchi and Rizo Mizuno founded 'Mizuno Brothers Ltd' in Osaka, Japan. Rihachi had been deeply influenced by American baseball culture, so they started creating baseball-themed clothing, gloves, and footwear to popularize the game in Japan.

1920's - 1930's

The company expands its athletic footwear line. By growing its product line, Mizuno can now serve athletes' equipment and footwear needs. By the end of the 1930s, the Technology Development Division is established.

1940's - 1960's

Mizuno starts producing tennis equipment after the end of WWII and continues its expansion in different sports lines. In 1965, with the world's first moulded soccer cleats, Mizuno revolutionized soccer footwear by eliminating external studs and improving traction and stability.

1980's - 1990's

In the early 80s, the 'Runbird' logo is designed. The company enters the running shoe market by producing performance-oriented shoes. Mizuno Wave technology was introduced in 1997 into this shoe's midsole to enhance cushioning, stability, and energy dispersal.
