To celebrate the 20th anniversary of its Japanese designed predecessor, the New Balance 580, New Balance has teamed up with Ball and Buck to bring back the 585, after a lengthy hiatus. Entitled the “Sporting Gentleman,” their iteration draws inspiration from Ball and Buck’s signature plaid, which is representative of the Boston-based retail brand and lifestyle. Therefore, the two have taken design cues from traditional plaids of heritage hunting estates and chosen to go with natural, earthy tones of navy and orange to adhere to the brand’s roots.
