The TOAOL X K-SWISS CLASSIC sees Parisian lifestyle blogger Sophie Trem add her own individual touch to the silhouette.
Sophie has been a fan of K-SWISS ever since a trip to California in her teens. The shoes she saw there were so different to what was happening in Paris at the time, which meant that they grabbed her attention and she has remained fond of the brand ever since. Today, Sophie runs a blog – THE OTHER ART OF LIVING, which is all about choosing your own direction and celebrating the good things in life. Since Sophie wanted the collab to represent her own personal style and journey she has been on over the last couple of years, the tongue feature a compass similar to the one she has tattooed on her wrist. Sophie’s compass tattoo stands for her own direction: it’s not a traditional compass pointing you to go north, east, south or west, but instead the direction that takes you on a journey to the right path, quest to find balance, the right direction that brings you to peace, love and magic. It represents that it is never too late to change your life and that you should listen to yourself, your instincts and go to the places you want to go.
She worked with tattoo artist, Walter Hego, from the respected Paris-based Ink studio, L’Encrerie, who created her tattoo and came up with a compass. This represents the journey that K-SWISS has been on – and the journey it’s currently on – and to remind people that everyone in life has their own destination, and that a compass is just a tool and a universal sign of the direction we chose. This very design that was created is etched onto the tongue of the sneaker. Other than the compass, the only other departure from the all-white finish is the embroidered THE OTHER ART OF LIVING logo on the heel in black. Rounding things off are memory foam insoles, which also feature the blog’s logo in black. This is another clean and simple collaboration, but with a nice story behind the details… definitely something we can appreciate.
The TOAOL X K-SWISS CLASSIC are set to launch exclusively at COLETTE on THURSDAY 17 SEPTEMBER, but can already be pre-ordered via the banner below.
