[ THE DROP DATE ]
Saucony is a brand that has its place very close to our hearts, and they are dons when it comes to handing their Classics range of runners over to collaborators, to serve up their limited edition offerings. The Shadow 6000 is a solid shoe that can take a beating, and still look as solid as the day they first broke out of their box.
Favoured by high mileage runners, the ’91 classic is still one of the comfiest shoes today and with the overlays curving themselves around its exterior in all the right places, it holds your foot firmly in the position it should be. A good solid, shoe and a timeless silhouette.
The latest collaborators to put their name to the Saucony Shadow 6000 are PYS, otherwise known as www.pickyourshoes.com, that US website that was guilty of continually teasing us Europeans with endless hordes of releases throughout the best part of the last decade.
PYS have invited BAIT, the Southern California based sneaker spot and lifestyle brand into the mix and between them, they give us the Shadow 6000 ‘Blue Apple’, paying reference to the original baiting tale of Adam and Eve, and their struggle with the munchies. BAIT are busy boys at the moment, with their own and very impressive Grid 9000 ‘Viridian Burner’ set to get its release over here soon, so we’ll have our review up for you in the next week or so.
With a full suede upper, mostly perforated bar the toebox and heel counter, the shoe already screams premium and teaming up the vibrant red with a calming blue for the colourway, the result really does pop. The soft tan XT600 outsole provides the traction and by carrying the shade through the heel of the midsole it definitely compliments the upper respectfully.
Three sets of well made laces (red, white and blue) all capped with PYS branded aglets and the tight stitch detailing on the tongue means it has no problem in earning its place on the top collab table for November. Maybe if Adam had a pair of the Blue Apples to hook God up with, things wouldn’t have been so bad.
There are five confirmed UK Stockists for the Saucony x PYS Shadow 6000 ‘Blue Apple’ and it’s a very tight allocation so you’ll need to be on the ball come the drop date, which has also been confirmed, as Saturday 24th November 2012.
