The RONNIE FIEG X NEW BALANCE 530 ‘CENTRAL PARK’ & RONNIE FIEG X NEW BALANCE 850 ‘BROOKLYN BRIDGE’ pack has to be one of our favourite releases from Ronnie and the KITH crew over in New York. His work with various brands always generates a lot of interest, through clever use of materials, slick use of colour and choice of shoe. These two editions merely add fuel to the fire!
The 530 represents KITH’s Manhattan shop and uses colours inspired by Central Park during the autumnal season (or ‘fall’, if you want to stick to the official American term!): there’s a rich burgundy upper constructed in oiled pigskin suede and an off-white micro-perforated nubuck suede on the toe piece. A rubberized tongue label featuring the New York Parks & Recreation logo finishes the design perfectly. The 850 is to represent the Brooklyn KITH location, taking the Brooklyn Bridge as its colour inspiration: the blue of the sky behind the bridge, speckled midsoles to mimic the limestone blocks that make up the bridge supports and plenty of references to the water underneath and iron girders throughout the rest of the shoe. Both shoes look great but the 850 is a particularly beautiful piece of footwear.
These launched at KITH on Black Friday, but luckily they’ll be hitting UK and European retailers on the 12 DECEMBER 2014. Check back shortly for the full stockist list ahead of the drop. These are going to be big!
