The POLITICS X SAUCONY COURAGEOUS THE JACKSON is the second of two pairs that pay homage to the Battle of New Orleans.

The Battle of New Orleans was a series of engagements fought between December 1814 and January 1815, which together constituted the final major battle of the War of 1812. To celebrate the battle’s bicentennial, Louisiana residents POLITICS are releasing two colourways of the COURAGEOUS. We’ve already previewed the first colourway – The Cannon, which you can see here – and now we get a look at the second colourway, which is referred to as THE JACKSON. American troops, that were led by General Andrew Jackson, came from far and wide to help battle the British troops… however, many believe it was the pirate Jean Lafitte whose involvement helped turn the tide of the war. Lafitte made a deal with Jackson for him and his men to fight alongside the Americans in exchange for pardons. After the war, Jackson praised Lafitte and his men for “exhibiting the same courage and fidelity” as his troops.

Paying homage to Jackson, this release takes its colour palette right off of his shoulders. The uppers combine cream suede on the toe and gold leather on the heel, with navy suede wedged in between. Finishing touches include a perforated leather tongue tab with a gold printed icon of Jackson and 3M piping to add a bit of flash. The insoles feature a flag, with the right being the flag of the Americans and the left is the flag of Cartagena, which the infamous pirate Jean Lafitte flew over his ships. All of this sits above a matching midsole, whilst a blood red outsole gives the idea of of the sole being dirtied by Jackson as he made his way through the bloody battlefield. As we said with the other colourway, battles may not be very nice, but it would seem the shoes that they inspire definitely are!

The POLITICS X SAUCONY COURAGEOUS THE JACKSON receives a wider release on SATURDAY 21 NOVEMBER. Make sure to keep checking back with us for updates.
