The NIKE TRACK & FIELD COLLECTION has launched ahead of the summer’s sporting calendar and featuring a new colour concept entitled SHADES OF UNLIMITED which embodies the spirit of speed.

Taking inspiration from a variety of places – an athlete’s body in motion, deep exploration of artwork and looking at attention grabbing, colour-shifting feathers of the tropical rainforest – the designers have produced a gradient fusion of Nike Volt and Hyper-Punch, which will be the main colours utilised across the uppers of the season’s footwear, including all of its track and field silhouettes.

Volt, Nike’s celebrated bright yellow hue, is one of the most eyecatching colours in the palette. According to the rules of colour theory, yellow is the most visible color to the human eye and Volt is the most visible version of yellow. Visibility is a key element in making a statement – and Nike want to make the the statement of speed. Hyper-punch pink, when mixed with Volt at the mid-foot and saturating as it approaches the heel, has been chosen as it mimics the blur of a speeding runner.

In motion, these brilliant colours appear to paint a subtle glowing path, representing not only its wearer’s unlimited athletic abilities but also the way in which Nike views the world: bursting with unlimited inspiration and design possibilities.

These explorations in colour are set to appear on the season’s NIKE TRACK & FIELD COLLECTION, which includes 22 performance spikes and shoes. You can read more about the collection here on the Nike site.
