With the days getting darker, colder and definitely wetter, the launch of this year’s range of NIKE SNEAKERBOOT collection couldn’t be more perfectly timed.
With a great history of creating durable trainers (such as their Moab-inspired creations and the ACG range), Nike have real experience in this area and earlier this week we had the pleasure of being invited to get a hands-on experience of their excellent new Sneakerboot range for 2014. This year introduces new models based around various basketball and runner silhouettes from the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s, catering to both men and women and re-engineered to suit this time of year. Utilising some of the most popular Nike models of all-time, including the Air Max 1, Air Max 90 and Air Force 1, these feature raised silhouettes to protect your ankles against the cold, with some clever details to make your winter drier, warmer and safer. The range features a mix of materials from mesh through to leather, all of which have some form of water-resistant or waterproofing technology that will keep your feet dry, even if you experience snow or slush. All the models feature full linings of various types depending on the shoe, which means your feet will be kept warm as well as comfortable through these harsher months. It is not just the uppers that have received the winterised treatment: all of the outsoles have been re-engineered with waffle style or aggressive lug additions to give you more grip on the wet and icy ground. The final touches include reflective elements on the uppers and laces that will keep you visible during these darker days.
Nike have not just catered for your feet – new additions have been made to the excellent Tech Fleece Pack as well. Nike Aeroloft technology combines with the Nike Tech Fleece to produce two new models; NIKE TECH FLEECE AEROLOFT PARKA for women and NIKE TECH FLEECE AEROLOFT WINDRUNNER for men. The parka is an elegant and modern silhouette, with a formfitting upper body, released hem and oversized hood. A semi-funnel neck finishes the look and provides a little extra coverage against those arctic winds. The Windrunner is a fully reversible jacket featuring a 800-fill goose down Aeroloft vest that can be hidden or kept on display, depending on how the wearer feels. Elastic binding on the hood and cuffs keeps the elements out regardless of which way round the jacket is worn. Bonded zippers create that final touch that give the jacket a real technical look.
