The NIKE KOBE 11 ACHILLES HEEL is the introductory colourway of what will be the Mamba’s last signature shoe.
Kobe Bryant has a reputation for being an athlete that obsesses about the details, which is something that has been apparent throughout his line of signature shoes and this latest is no different. He worked closely with Nike Innovation Director Eric Avar to create the KOBE 11, which will be introduced in this ACHILLES HEEL colourway. From a distance the red and black uppers look like they are a traditional Flyknit construction, however if you take a closer look you will see transparent fibres, made with thermoplastic polyurethane, woven throughout, that increase the upper’s strength, without increasing the weight. The upper attaches directly to the icy-black sole unit, which features grooves to aid movement and natural flex, and a pioneering tread pattern that provides improved traction. As a nod to the theme of the shoe, the heels feature an ACHILLES graphic on the right foot and the ‘four stitches’ on the left, which refer to the four feet of thread needed in Kobe’s 2013 ACHILLES surgery. As curtain calls go the KOBE 11 is pretty impressive.
The NIKE KOBE 11 ACHILLES HEEL drops on SATURDAY 9 JANUARY and will be available via the banner below.
