The NBA Playoffs tip-off on the 18th April and to coincide with the start of post-season play NIKE are releasing the NIKE KOBE X ELITE, NIKE LEBRON 12 ELITE and NIKE KD7 ELITE in team colourways.
The playoffs can be pretty intense, so Nike have made some changes to the three models that make up the ELITE SERIES, with some help from the athletes that lend their names to the shoes.
Direct insights from Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant and LeBron James have helped Nike fundamentally evolve basketball shoes, leading to new construction methods, state-of-the-art materials and technical innovations. The athletes spend countless hours with the Nike design team to brainstorm, test and modify their signature shoes, resulting in the best shoe possible for each elite athlete.
The NIKE KOBE X ELITE sticks with the same sole unit, but with a raised profile on the upper which has a FLYKNIT construction. It’s the first time that a basketball shoe has utilised yarn that has been constructed with recycled polyester, with the equivalent of five plastic bottles in each pair. As this colourway is a nod towards the Lakers, the upper is finished in purple, whilst the sole features yellow, broken up by a white midsole.
The NIKE LEBRON 12 ELITE colourway represents the Cleveland Cavaliers with a predominantly-red upper broken up by hits of black and yellow. Like the regular edition, it sticks with the six hexagonal Zoom cushion pods, whilst the upper features all of the Elite innovations. MEGAFUSE construction features throughout, with mesh and composite for structure, whilst new vertical wings wrap the foot for lockdown and stability.
Finally, the NIKE KD7 ELITE features a full HYPERPOSITE upper finished in Oklahoma City Thunder Team colours, with a base of grey broken up by hits of orange and volt. FLYWIRE is infused into the construction for a responsive fit and was designed by Leo Chang to be light, tight and optimised for performance in a clean aesthetic.
The three models that make up the NIKE BASKETBALL ELITE SERIES – TEAM COLLECTION release are due to drop on SATURDAY 18 APRIL. We’ll have all the info you need up on our RELEASE PAGE closer to the date, so make sure to check back with us shortly.
