It has been proclaimed that 2014 is the year of the tennis shoe, meaning that the big brands exhausted the running section of their archives in the past couple of years and have begun to dredge out classic court silhouettes. NIKE started this turning of the tide with the reissue of the Air Tech Challenge Huarache earlier this month and they’ve struck again with the NIKE AIR TECH CHALLENGE II HOT LAVA.
With the arrival of more aesthetically eccentric players like Andre Agassi, 1990s tennis steez became a big deal and these were the shoes that propelled Agassi to the top of the style ranks as well as the ATP. Agassi’s signature shoe veered away from the conventional tennis look by applying the fiery paint splatter onto the customary white leather upper in a look that immediately transcended from the court to the street. This reissue stays pretty faithful to the original, from the perforated synthetic leather to the quintessentially 90s geometric tongue label, it’s all here. Those wanting their Yeezy fix will jump at the chance to own a shoe with the same sole unit so if you’re planning to cop, make quick with those fingers.
The NIKE AIR TECH CHALLENGE II HOT LAVA is scheduled to drop in the UK this FRIDAY 21.2.14 and as always, we’ve got you covered via the link-through below.
