Nike Air Safari QS: On-Foot Shots

The NIKE AIR SAFARI QS marks the return of an underground icon. Flying under the radars of most people when it first launched back in 1987, the Safari became the stuff of legend as the years passed and people slowly realised what they’d missed. Will this latest retro edition satisfy the hunger? We took to the concrete to find out…

The Air Safari originally launched back in 1987 as a running shoe, despite looking more in line with trail shoes or even certain ACG models. The unusual clay orange colour across the toebox and sidewalls was partnered with a bizarre (but ultimately timeless) ostrich skin pattern that subsequently found its way onto many other Nike designs. Those who picked up the last retro releases will know that the Safari remains to be one of the most comfortable trainers ever produced. It might be relatively low-tech, but the supple leather and comfortable midsole make the Safari a perfect shoe for daily use. Two colourways drop at the end of March: the classic OG and a smart triple black edition. Stock up accordingly, we say.
