The Nike Air Max 97 Metallic Gold Returns

Nike Air Max 97 Metallic Gold

The NIKE AIR MAX 97 METALLIC GOLD brings the Midas touch to one of the most exciting Air Max retros we’ve seen.

The Nike Air Max 97 was a neck-breaking release when it first dropped 20 years ago. Christian Tresser’s futuristic design was inspired by speed, with contours and curves that gave the shoe a true feeling of momentum. Whilst the shoe looked great in many of the colourways that followed the initial silver edition, the metallic versions will always be highly coveted. To drop such a major release in full reflective colours was a bold and brave move from the brand – and it paid off, in a big way. The 97 is one of those models that people know, no matter how interested in footwear they are.

The recent retro of the ‘Silver Bullet‘ disappeared from store shelves as soon as they released, but there’s some good news: the Metallic Gold edition (which we hadn’t seen since back in 2010 before the Swoosh released them again this time last year), is making another appearance in time for summer. The Metallic Gold upper features reflective 3M panel overlays, with Team Red detailing setting off the white midsole and black outsole perfectly. The Air unit window follows the styling of the uppers perfectly, giving us glimpses into the magic technology inside. As a piece of design, the Air Max 97 is up there with the best shoes ever.
