Nike Air Jordan x CLOT Collection

The NIKE AIR JORDAN X CLOT COLLECTION is almost here – a tribute to Chinese history and timelessness, with inspiration drawn from the armour worn by the first Emperor of China, Qin Shi Huang’s army and Jordan Brand elements which represent Michael Jordan‘s love of basketball.

Nike has officially unveiled the CLOT x Air Jordan Collection, described as an “investigation of Chinese heritage” with the Air Jordan 14 Low and the CLOT x Air Jordan 35. Founded by Edison Chen and Kevin Poon, CLOT has been the forefront of the Hong Kong streetwear scene for well over a decade, with several Nike collaborations already under its belt. Following 2018’s CLOT x Air Jordan 13 Low Terracotta, the Air Jordan 14 Low Terracotta takes things further with an expression of the emperor’s army’s armour plating with stitched dashes in rows of two and three – a nod to Michael Jordan’s chosen number, 23. Dual-branded tongues have been designed to look like the stretched-out Chinese scrolls, with a coin on the heel that symbolizes 如意吉祥: a Chinese idiom for prosperity and happiness. The Air Jordan 35 Warrior Jade takes inspiration from Chinese Jade: a highly prized and timeless symbol of Chinese culture which represents the durability, purity, beauty and auspicious nature of the ornamental mineral.
