The NEW BALANCE MADE 1978 adds a contemporary breath of life to the brand’s longstanding 990 silhouette, which first made its way onto the running track in 1978.

Influenced by the archive, New Balance take the base of their late ‘70s running silhouette, the 990, to create a new footwear hero, MADE 1978. Decades of design and research have been attributed to bringing a contemporary sensibility to the iconic New Balance shoe, and the result comes in the form of a lightweight sneaker that’s primed for everyday wear. Minimally constructed with a three piece suede upper, perforated detailing is applied to the toe box, vamp, and unmistakable ‘N’ branding on both sides, adding an extra blast of breathability. The colour choices for the MADE 1978 are kept muted, with a slightly paler contrast appearing on the collar and tongue. Additional pop comes from the white Vibram sole unit, retaining some of the 990 model’s original structure.

Keeping the uppers tonal and low key, the shoe will be available in three pure and simple colourways: red, grey, and tan.
