LFT FLD is a new project from Gareth Skewis and Paul Ruffles: two longtime friends of The Drop Date and who are highly regarded for their work with their respective brands (Palace, Slam City Skates, Size? and FootPatrol). These two guys have been instrumental in today’s streewear and sneaker scenes, so to see this new label from the both of them is very exciting.
In their own words, ‘LFT FLD is an exercise in re-working ’90s sportswear references from a more refined, contemporary standpoint. Focusing on high performing outerwear, classic throwback inspiration and subtle details with purposeful logo design and strong graphic work’. And on the front, they’re working with one of the best designers in the industry to make sure everything looks top-notch: Fergus Purcell (who’s created designs for Palace, Aries, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Silas and many more). With solid foundations like this, the first season was always going to be impressive. There are bold graphic treatments across the tees and sweats, a great rugby style top, smart hoodies (grey and orange is always a great combination) and lots more – but it’s the grey sweatpants with the cargo pockets that have got us digging into our wallets. A refreshing take on a wardobe essential, we think these are going to be popular.
