The next release for the model’s 25th anniversary is the HANON X REEBOK VENTILATOR inspired by Scotland’s famed warrior-king, Robert the Bruce.
The story goes that in the early days of the King’s reign he was defeated by the English and driven into exile. He sought refuge in a small dark cave and sat and watched a little spider trying to make a web. Time and time again the spider would fall, but would slowly climb back up and try again. Finally, as Robert the Bruce looked on, the spider managed to stick a strand of silk to the cave wall and began to weave a web. Inspired by the spider’s determination the King decided to try again and went on to defeat the English at the Battle of Bannockburn.
With HANON being located in Aberdeen in Scotland the combination of mint and emerald on the suede upper represents the country’s rolling hills, with the pops of purple a nod to the moss on the stone fences. The perforations on the toe box add a premium feel, which is added to with the unusual choice of removing the ventilated panels on the side. Whilst the right shoe sees a debossed flame logo, that we have become accustomed to, the left shoe features a matching debossed spider as a nod to the afore mentioned story. The spider theme continues onto the custom printed insoles with a webbing motif, that rounds off the nice touches and details that we have come to expect from the team from Aberdeen.
The HANON X REEBOK VENTILATOR is scheduled to drop at HANON on SATURDAY 18 APRIL, with a wider release on a later date. Make sure to keep checking back with us for updates to find out more about when these will be up on the world wide web.
