The FILLING PIECES AW16 COLLECTION is named Srefidensi /Independence referring to the South American country of Surinam, native country of FP founder Guillaume Philibert
Filling Pieces has come a long way to reach true independence. In the early days, the brand was confined to use the luxury standard cup soles and had limited access to suppliers and materials. Now, having organically grown into a global independent brand, they’re celebrating their evolution with new innovations. The AW16 collection reflects this state of freedom in their most progressive collection yet. In total, there are a staggering 450 styles on offer, containing 14 new silhouettes and 3 custom Filling Pieces sole innovations.
For this new season, the design focus is on the deconstruction and rebuilding of the iconic Low Top silhouette. Initial design research resulted in a number of new silhouettes featuring PVC elements, neoprene sock liners, heat seamed stitching, layering, stitch and return techniques. The materials used include premium Italian leathers, suedes and nubucks in both classic and distinct colourways. Gradually, throughout each season, FP are replacing the standard cup soles with custom Filling Pieces soles made from the finest quality vulcanised rubber. In the first drop, two new custom Filling Pieces soles are introduced, named Thick Ripple and Astro. With an interplay of strong lines, slightly lowered front and elevated heel, the FP Astro sole is a blend of athletic and luxury influences. The Thick Ripple adds a masculine, raw, outdoor feel to their signature Low Top silhouettes.
