Y-3 X-Ray Zip Low Boost

Yohji Yamamoto’s Y-3 collaboration label has dropped its latest futuristic-looking silhouette, the adidas Y-3 X-RAY ZIP LOW BOOST.

The adidas range aimed at the fashion market is renowned for its innovative, streamlined silhouettes that push the envelope in terms of technology and materials, and this latest release is no exception. As you would expect from Y-3, the shoe is Core Black in colour and has some intriguing design features: a black layered and textured neoprene upper has been built to create a 3-D effect, an elastic heel strap hosts the three stripes logo in the form of bands, with Y-3 and Yohji Yamamoto branding on the supports, and a zipper replaces the typical lace system. All this sits on top of a BOOST midsole, so while the shoes look futuristic and a bit avant-garde, it doesn’t happen at the expense of comfort.

The Drop Date wrote about the Y-3 AW16 collection back in August, including some silhouettes that experimented with zips, and we waxed lyrical about the forward looking designs, which managed to be a little out there in terms of aesthetics but simultaneously were all very wearable. The adidas Y-3 X-RAY ZIP LOW BOOST is AVAILABLE NOW at Footpatrol via the banner below.
