Shoes inspired by car tyre engineering crop up every now and then, but the ADIDAS TUBULAR 93 OG is one of the few models to carry off the idea to memorable effect.
The original model, released in the summer of 1993, allowed runners to customise the cushioning in the heel via an accompanying hand-held pump. The Vibrastop outsole could easily be inflated or deflated, offering a totally unique level of comfort. Experiments like this have come and gone through the years, as manufacturers experimented with new materials and utilised updated research to provide a superior product. While the technology has been updated – this fantastic retro features the modern Tubular sole – the timeless design of the upper section looks just as good as it did over twenty years ago.
