The ADIDAS ORIGINALS ZX FLUX XENO is finally set for a UK drop in two colourways, after a strong reception in the US earlier this year.
Inspired by a snake from Southeast Asia – the Xenopeltis AKA the Sunbeam Snake – the direct light-activated material utilised across the uppers here is revolutionary. Releasing here in two colourways, the XENO features either matt black or Onix coloured scales in daylight but then transforms under bright direct light, resulting in a exciting display of colour, not a million miles away from the sheen when light hits petroleum. Although we know that it’s a multi-layered application, the newly-developed aesthetic technology has been kept completely under wraps so far. Instead of a simple one-trick dip, the three stripes display a different colour to the rest of the upper when the shoe lights up.
The creative team behind the XENO specialise in refreshing and adapting iconic adidas silhouettes, and chose New York City as their inspiration for this incredible transforming colourway. According to Josh Herr, the Design Director on the XENO project, the energy, colour and lights of New York are captured in the rainbow-reflective colourway. One of their biggest styles, it’s no surprise that adidas have chosen the Flux to be the first in a series to feature the XENO technology. The base model looks excellent in both colourways and the attention to detail is flawless – we expect these to be very popular.
The ADIDAS ORIGINALS ZX FLUX XENO launches in the UK with FOOTASYLUM on SATURDAY 13 JUNE at 08:00 BST and will be available via the banner below.
