The ADIDAS ORIGINALS X HENDER SCHEME flips the standard collaboration process on its head…
A play on Sandra Bem’s “gender schema” theory, artisan Japanese brand Hender Scheme was started by Ryo Kashiwazaki in a bid to re-craft popular iconic sneaker models from the likes of Nike and adidas. A trained cobbler, Ryo’s reiterations are crafted entirely by hand in premium leather and have quickly caught the attentions of Tokyo’s fashion elite.
After a series of joint projects with the likes of Ace Hotel and more, Hender Scheme are teaming up with adidas for a collaboration that flips the usual co-working process right on its head. Working with the Micropacer, NMD, and Superstar models – the shoe’s will be manufactured by hand at Hender Scheme’s Tokyo base, rather than at adidas factories. Limited to 300 pairs per style, it’s sure to be a special drop for those who like to go a little deeper with their footwear.
Imagery is slightly thin on the ground, which only adds to the collab’s desire, but the Hender Scheme’s peachy leather spin on Micropacer (sans pedometer) has been teased on the Instagram of UNITED ARROWS & SONS director Motofumi “Poggy” Kogi.
The ADIDAS ORIGINALS X HENDER SCHEME is due to launch on SATURDAY 2 SEPTEMBER. Until then, shop the current ADIDAS footwear range by following the banner below.
