Get ready for winter with a dose of superior Japanese craftmanship courtesy of the WTAPS AW16 COLLECTION.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of WTAPS, the pioneering Japanese streetwear brand known for its high quality construction and military-influenced aesthetic (even the name itself is a reference to a particularly deadly Special Ops firearms technique). The latest collection is entitled ‘EX.33’ (we don’t know what that means either, possibly either a Devon postcode or a bible reference) and it doesn’t disappoint. The highlight is the outerwear, ranging from heavy combat jackets to printed windbreakers via a selection of military-styled overshirts. Two hyrbrid styles, a crewneck sweat and hoodie, mix together sportswear and army influences with jersey bodies and pocketed ripstop cotton sleeves. A strong range of shirts features brightly-coloured camo and more pockets than you could wish for, while the classic WTAPS sweats and hoodies are spiced up with bright orange colourways alongside the usual grey, olive and black. A set of solid graphic tees rounds off the collection, along with an assortment of accessories including incense burners, belts, caps and even underwear.
