The Wood Wood SS17 Concrete Collection takes us back to the ’90s

The Danish design dons at Wood Wood kick off their 15th Anniversary celebrations with the WOOD WOOD SS17 CONCRETE COLLECTION.

15 years in the garms game is no mean feat, and it’s a tribute to Wood Wood that they’ve never dropped the ball when it comes to creativity. Consistently eclectic and unpredictable, the brand infuses each collection with their signature mix of high-end and street style (high/street?) and always adds a dash of humour to liven up the all-too-serious world of FASHION™. The new collection sees Wood Wood chanelling its founders’ roots in the worlds of ’90s skate and hip-hop, putting a laid-back California-meets-Scandinavia spin on that golden era of street culture, workwear and sports apparel.

The collection is entitled ‘Concrete’ in a nod to the brutalist architecture which became repurposed as an athletic playground for skaters. A beautifully washed-out colour palette softens the starkness and adds to the Californian feel of the collection, as does the ‘Romantic’ slogan that we last saw on Wood Wood’s collaboration with Champion. There’s a broad offering here for both men and women, with everything from outerwear to accessories coming in premium fabrics such as merino wool, heavy leather, crisp technical twill and tactile satin. As always, the brand adds updated fits and unexpected detailing to familiar garments to create an eye-catching yet supremely wearable collection.
