Think Pink for Spring/Summer 2017
Pink is the perfect pop colour to offset the monochrome moodiness of winter, and since it’s Valentine’s Day we’ve rounded up a selection of our favourite pop pastel pieces for SS17.
The pink invasion has been gathering steam for a while now, spurred on by a Supreme co-sign (witness the frenzy over the recent peach box logo hoodies) and gradually infiltrating your favourite brand’s colour palettes. Now the Spring/Summer 2017 collections are arriving, it seems that the opinion-splitting pastel has hit the big time. For those who are wary of pink’s feminine connotations, it’s worth reflecting that until a century or so ago, pink was actually considered a colour more suitable for boys than girls. Put that in your non-gender-specific pipe and smoke it.
When it comes to clothing, pink is surprisingly versatile. At one end of the scale, subtle peach tones provide unexpected visual interest when layered amongst more muted garments. At the other end, bright brash semi-neon pinks provide the focus for an entire outfit, looking particularly good when contrasted with white and black garments.
