Take a closer look at THE NORTH FACE X MASTERMIND collab ahead of its exclusive London launch tomorrow.

Previously only available in Asia, this top-tier capsule range finally reaches the Western market this weekend with a limited drop at The North Face Urban Exploration store in Carnaby Street. We visited the store in advance of the release to bring you a sneak peak at the range along with some words of wisdom from Masaaki Homma – the mastermind behind mastermind – about the inspiration behind the range, his love of London and his enviable collection of extravagant accessories. As Homma-San explained, the concept behind the range was to create a full head-to-toe outfit rather than a collection of separate items, with each garment working beautifully as a standalone piece but also designed to fit together to create a fully-layered winter outfit. And it genuinely is a head-to-toe collection: the Nuptse, Mountain Jacket, Denali Fleece, t-shirt and pants form the core of the range, while a blacked-out cap, backpack and insulated boots take care of your extremities.

Homma-San’s personal style carries through to the collection too. While the capsule comes in a black and camo colour palette, each piece is embellished with silver branding prints and embroidery that elevate the collection a notch above the mainline TNF range. The extravagant detailing reflects the designer’s own love of jewellery and accessories; to complement his full camo fit, the mastermind head honcho sported a silver wallet chain, a horseshoe ring from cult Japanese brand Tenderloin and a blacked-out Hublot x mastermind watch – not to mention a pair of the Japan-only mastermind x Vans collab shoes…
