The Drop Date sent its crack squad of street style photographers to cover LONDON FASHION WEEK MEN’S 5th Anniversary shows. As usual, the fashion world’s finest influencers were out in force to peacock for the cameras, and we’ve rounded up the best trends we spotted. Take a look at our picks below, and click on the banners to shop each look…
ORANGE
Our pop colour of choice here at The Drop Date (hold tight hex code #FF5400) is getting a lot of love this season. And it was big in the spectrum game at LFWM too, whether in the form of full-on statement pieces or more discreet accessories. You know how brightly coloured flowers attract loads of bees? Replace “brightly coloured flowers” with “orange garms” and “bees” with “street style photographers”, and you get the drift.
TRACK PANTS
Track pants are mad respectable these days; you can probably wear them to a wedding, even if you’re the bride. The LFWM influencers took full advantage of this golden age of comfy legwear, pairing sweatpants with everything from suit jackets to what looked like nightgowns. High-end (read: expensive) versions were a popular peacocking choice, but everybody’s favourite accessible 3-Stripes classics were in full effect too.
UTILITY
Each unnecessary pocket increases a garment’s value by at least 20% in our view, so it’s good that the utility trend is pretty much permanent at this stage. Military inspiration, khaki tones and unexpected panelling were everywhere, with functional details (check the water bottle side pocket) sitting comfortably alongside arguably pointless ones.
LONG-SLEEVE TEES
The long-sleeve tee is a good look when sunny mornings have a habit of turning to cold afternoons. The ’90s vibes are strong with this one, and it seems that minimalism has gone our the window in favour of multiple loud prints on the arms, chest, sleeve, back and anywhere else you can fit them.
STRIPES
Stripes were a big look for tops, trousers and accessories. Stripes on stripes were popular too. And even stripes on stripes on stripes. The more they clashed, the better; thick stripes were mixed with thin ones, horizontal stripe tees were layered under pinstripe shirts, and hickory trousers were offset with denim patchwork. A strong way to switch up your stripe game this summer.
