Re-issued Vintage Graphics : The STÜSSY X DOVER STREET MARKET: A RETROSPECTIVE exhibition kicks off tomorrow.
For the STÜSSY X DOVER STREET MARKET: A RETROSPECTIVE exhibition, streetwear originators Stüssy have put their heads together with Dover Street Market and come through with the most comprehensive insight into the brands back catalogue to date.
With a focus on the brands enormous archive of graphics, the retrospective seeks to highlight the cultural significance of the humble T-Shirt and its role as a method of communication. From Bands to brands the T-Shirt provides a visual marker, a flag that can be a beacon for peers or a bold statement to adversaries. But above all, Stüssy creative director Ryan Williams states “how inclusive it can be and how it transcends decades, continents and subcultures”.
Alongside the exhibition there will be reissues of classic Stüssy tees from the past and a limited edition 240 book developed in collaboration with IDEA that will include highlights of Stüssy’s unmatched legacy alongside an essay, interviews, and editorial by Ari Marcopoulos, and a series of photographs by some of the leading image makers in the industry today including Alasdair McLellan, Amy Troost, Ari Marcopoulos, Collier Schorr, Dan Martensen, Daniel Jackson, Glen Luchford, Inez & Vinoodh, Josh Olins, Mario Sorrenti, Terry Richardson and Willy Vanderperre.
The STÜSSY X DOVER STREET MARKET: A RETROSPECTIVE exhibition kicks off on the 25th August over at DSM’s London location. Meanwhile, the FW17 collection is starting to arrive in stores, so hit the banner to explore the Stussy FW17 collection in more detail.
