RISE OF THE PUFFER – 25 YEARS OF THE NORTH FACE NUPSTE

This 2017 has seen the puffer jacket stand out as the bubbling trend both on and off the runway. This winter sees it reign as the sports luxe trend dominates. Revived in the luxury by Sacai, Balenciaga, Stella McCartney and Raf Simmons recently, The North Face stakes its place this Winter as the true originator. Already an iconic brand famed for its technical outwear, 2017 has seen it effortlessly celebrated in the lifestyle arena, as the presenter of this season’s must-have. 20 years after its inception, The North Face brings back its much loved 1992 Nuptse; loved for its lasting style and timeless tech – it’s the jacket that started it all.

In 1992, the Nuptse Jacket was born. Named after the Tibetan for “west peak”, the Nuptse lies a mile southwest of Mt. Everest and is the western peak of what is widely considered to be a climbing

gold mine. When created, the jacket incorporated the world’s first innovative baffle construction, designed to increase warmth, and almost instantly became one of the most coveted jackets in the world. The iconic jacket is now a regular siting, both at the Himalayan base camp and in downtown Manhattan.

To mark 25 years since its introduction, The North Face has released a collection of exact replicas of the 1992 Nuptse using original block colourways that include: Cobalt Blue, The North Face Red, The North Face Black, and Yellow Dome Print – in full jacket, and gilet form. The jacket incorporates classic baffles packed with RDS-certified goose down, celebration labelling, and the The North Face woven label on sleeve.
