The OFF-WHITE SS17 ‘MIRROR MIRROR’ COLLECTION blends Italian art with a streetwear sensibility to deliver more cult-status pieces to Virgil Abloh’s legions of fans.
Virgil Abloh and his Off-White imprint have hit a winning streak since the brand’s inception by blending over-sized graphics and unexpected detailing to create an incredibly wearable, high-end streetwear aesthetic. Off-White’s latest offering ensures the iconic diagonal print is never in short supply, appearing on a range of pieces within the collection alongside a new, punk-infused spray paint execution of the design.
Abloh has long looked to the art world to stimulate his design process, and the SS17 ‘Mirror Mirror’ Collection is no different. This season, Italian artist Giorgio de Chirico’s work is mined for inspiration for a whole host of made-in-Italy pieces, with one of the painter’s more prominent works entitled ‘Melancholia’ featuring as a digital print across classic Off-White style oversized hoodies and sweats. Denim heads will be intrigued by the craftsmanship of the hand-distressed five-pocket jeans which also feature an embroidered scorpion and drawcord belt fastening. Other highlights include a striking all over camouflage crew sweat, and a selection of garment-washed jersey pieces with off-centre logo branding, side vents and zip closure available in seasonal pink and stone grey hues.
