The NOAH X THE CURE capsule brings together Brendon Babenzien’s clothing label and his favourite band to redefine “street goth” (literally).
Younger heads may not know that the former Supreme creative director originally started up his own label Noah back in the mid-2000s, before putting it on hold till the brand’s 2015 relaunch. In a market that no longer sees much value in anything more than a couple of weeks old, it’s refreshing to see a designer who maintains a sense of context – and this approach is perfectly represented by the new capsule range of tees, hoodies and jackets that feature iconic artwork from Babenzien’s all-time favourite band The Cure. For the philistines out there, The Cure are a UK band who formed in 1976, were instrumental (pun intended) in new wave and post-punk, and helped define the original incarnation of goth. The band’s cover art was as influential as their music, and Babenzien has gone unapologetically full fanboy on this outing by recreating some of the original graphics with almost no embellishment at all; except for a little subtle branding, you could be forgiven for thinking this was classic tour merch, and that’s a very good thing.
The NOAH X THE CURE capsule is AVAILABLE NOW from a select handful of top-tier retailers. Take a look at some of the highlights below, and click the banners to shop the range now.
