The NIKELAB ESSENTIALS SS17 WOMEN’S COLLECTION is a sophisticated, feminine take on classic sportswear.

Much like the men’s collection, the women’s range of apparel is a sleek and minimal affair with subtle branding and a pared-back colour palette. But while the men’s garments are more straightforward, the ladies’ offering plays with drape and proportions with beautiful results. The humble hoodie, perhaps the sports world’s most iconic garment, is elongated and elevated to become a dress-like hybrid. T-shirts and tops are loose and flowing, with dropped shoulder seams and concealed pockets to keep the silhouette clean and refined. The polo shirts come in a semi-sheer fabric, and even the sweatpant – that staple garment of gym bunnies and sofa slobs alike – gets a stylish makeover with its slim, tapered fit and the familiar sideways NikeLab Essentials branding.

But looks aren’t everything with this collection, and each garment boasts performance aspects such as reflective detailing and stretch fabrics for unrestricted movement. The training tights feature Flyvent waistbands and mesh zones to increase breathability, while the anoraks combine water-repellent soft shell fabric with nylon for lightweight protection. A slim skirt comes in a 4-way stretch fabric with an internal mesh pocket and a sporty ribbed waistband. Two-way zips and hidden media pockets add functionality throughout, and Dri-FIT fabric also makes an appearance to keep you comfortable with its sweat-wicking properties.
