Say It Proud & Wear It Loud: the Nike SB X Brian Anderson SS17 Collection

The Swoosh’s skate division teams up with their long term team rider and full time legend Brian Anderson for the NIKE SB X BRIAN ANDERSON SS17 COLLECTION.

Brian is a legit icon on and off the skateboard. His contribution to the subculture is incredible; having repeatedly confirmed his critically acclaimed status with Toy Machine, Girl, 3d and now Antihero, the larger-than-life shredder is also the first professional male skateboarder to come out as openly gay. Panoramic props all round ay? The new capsule collection centres around a hockey jersey adorned with Anderson’s signature leopard illustration (which is also tattooed across the majority of his back as well as infiltrating his hairstyles from time to time). The number 8 is Brian’s lucky number, bearing more significance since it also forms the infinity symbol when turned sideways. A bright yellow colourway is on offer for the more adventurous amongst us, while those who prefer to keep things stealthy can opt for a tonal black version. Complementing the hockey top is a coach jacket which bears the same leopard graphic on the back and comes in red or white. These bright colourways are inspired by 80’s advertisements from the Reagan era (a metaphor for hope in a dark time?) and act almost like pockets of optimism, particularly in this gloomy weather. But if you’re not as big a fan of colour as Brian, then the Icon hoody offers a more discrete option that can blend into any outfit without taking centre stage.
