Uniform utility: Take a look at the upcoming CARHARTT WIP X SLAM JAM ‘The Minute Man Service’ collection.
Following on from a successful collaborative effort back in 2015, the two titans of streetwear have hooked up once again to deliver a new collection of utilitarian staples for the forthcoming Fall/Winter season. Titled ‘The Minute Man’ Collection, the range explores 1960s style gas station workers uniforms, updating the functionality of the garments with a decidedly fashion forward edge. This contemporary influence sees the capsule collection take direct inspiration from the iconic name and brand badges synonymous with American workwear garments of the period, though here the patches are applied tonally to increase the wearability of the garments.
Frayed edges and exposed zip tapes add an unexpected twist to this strong set of experimental workwear, while the patches and prints embellish unexpected areas and rips expose bright linings beneath the sober outer fabric. The garments are available in black or navy and there’s a full range on offer from trucker caps right down to workwear pants. Standout pieces include the patched Shop Jacket and the utilitarian Zip Shirt, but each garment is a highlight in its own right and the entire capsule sits together to form a cohesive uniform.
