adidas hits the ground running in 2017 with the premium new ADIDAS ORIGINALS XBYO apparel collection.
Designed to satisfy all your sartorial streetwear needs, the new range was cooked up by a triple threat of tailoring talents. Inspiration was provided by adidas, looking back to the signature cross detail at the heel of the 1959 adidas Italia shoe (and also to the first ever Originals apparel range which picked up on the same eye-catching motif). The cut of the garments was designed by Satomi Nakamura, the renowned pattern cutter responsible for much of the garment wizardry of Comme Des Garçons. And lastly, the exclusive, densely-knitted Japanese terry cotton was devised by Yamayo Textiles, a respected fabric mill based in Wakayama Prefecture which first worked with the Three Stripes more than half a century ago.
The new range comprises everything you’d expect for both men and women: tees, long-sleeve tops, sweatshirts, hoodies, track jackets, sweatpants and cropped pants all come dipped in the classic sportswear colours of white, black, heather grey and navy. But these familiar sporty pieces have been updated and refined with exceptional construction and handfeel courtesy of Nakamura’s three-dimensional pattern skills and the Yamayo mill’s fabrics, resulting in a sophisticated take on sporty staples that’s anything but basic. Despite the high-concept approach, the prices are extremely reasonable: with everything here clocking in at under £75, the XBYO range is the perfect way to jump-start your wardrobe for 2017.
