East meets West for another round of camo/stripe goodness courtesy of ADIDAS ORIGINALS BY BAPE.
The adidas 3 Stripes and the BAPE camo pattern are each iconic in their own right, and the two brands’ FW16 offering mixes them together to send fans into a frenzy once again. This time round, we’re treated to a well-chosen capsule collection of adidas footwear and apparel styles, all of which come dipped in the famous ape-head camo. Back in the day, BAPE helped kickstart the whole hypebeast phenomenon – so it’s only fitting that the two brands should be collaborating on the NMD silhouette, one of the most coveted footwear models of recent times. Two colourways will be available: a military green version featuring one of the most familiar BAPE camo colourways, and a tonal black version for those who like to keep things more stealthy. Both pairs come with crisp white Boost sole units with the signature NMD plugs coloured to match the uppers, plus dual-branded tape at the heel pull tabs for a final touch.
Three apparel styles will also be released to match the footwear. The legendary adidas Firebird track jacket comes in the same camo colours as the shoes, offset with contrasting white stripes at the sleeves and a white chest panel on the green version. This same detail is carried over to the ID96 down jacket, which is further embellished with military-inspired patch details and the beloved shark-print hood with BAPE’s signature full zip closure (for those times when your face gets exceptionally cold and you want to look like a shark). The collection plays to both brands’ strengths, combining the iconic and the eye-catching in equal measure for a collection that is bound to break necks and empty pockets this winter.
The ADIDAS ORIGINALS BY BAPE collection is now confirmed for release on THURSDAY 12 JANUARY: click the banner to check the release page ahead of the drop.
