The ADIDAS ORIGINALS 83-C COLLECTION brings vintage Mexican racing car inspiration to the Three Stripes’ terrace tracksuit pedigree.

The story begins with a mysterious adidas track jacket found in a thrift store, which bore embroidery reading ’83-C’ and the name ‘J. Mano’ on the sleeve. The adidas Originals archive held no clues to the origins of the track top or the meaning of the embroidery, and it was only when the name was traced back to a Mexican mechanic who changed tyres at a race track named ’83-C’ that the vintage find made sense. The story seemed too good to waste, so adidas Originals reincarnated this unique customised thrift store garment in the form of a full set of track tops, pants, crew neck sweats and t-shirts in several complementary colourways. The benefits of looking back to move forwards are particularly strong in this case: after all, what’s cooler than an OG racing car mechanic?

The latest range from the 83-C Collection comes in retro shades of black and off-white, perfect for the transitional Spring season. The track tops, sweats and t-shirts feature two-tone racing stripes across the chest, with the 83-C appearing at the chest and J. Mano’s name at the sleeve in homage to the original inspiration. Rounding off the range is a set of track pants which sport the same vintage details as the tops along with the beloved Three Stripes running down the leg.
