After their highly-anticipated NikeLab Presto collab, Errolson Hugh and his team are back with the ACRONYM FW-1617 COLLECTION to remind us what all the fuss is really about.
Every Acronym collection is an object lesson in futuristic functionality, embodying a post-apocalyptic survivalist vision that’s a million miles away from the average ‘hike dad’ flex of most technical apparel brands. The FW-1617 range combines a pared-back colour palette with an array of technical details so vast it makes the Batsuit look like a onesie. As always the focus point is the outerwear, but the collection also extends to pants, mid-layers and accessories that feature the same high-grade materials and attention to detail. The jackets employ Gore-Tex Pro fabric technology, Gore Windstopper and Climashield insulation along with signature details such as the detachable JacketSling and Forcelock magnetic earphone holders. Highlights include the J43A-GT with its funnel hood and centre front expansion panel, the J50-S insulated bomber, the J56-GT Field Jacket and the technical marvel that is the J53TS-GT trenchcoat.
Mid-layers include a softshell bomber and a liner jacket designed to work with the outerwear pieces, alongside a water-repellent shirt and a long sleeve tee crafted from cashmere blend jersey. The pants come with articulated panelling, rugged industrial micro twill and high-density gabardine fabrics, and enough pockets to house everything you own at once. Even the hats and neck gaiters use Cashllama wool and silk. And just in case the features on offer aren’t enough, many of the garments boast Acronym’s TecSys webbing system so you can attach the brand’s modular pouch pockets as well.
These pieces are not for those with “short arms and deep pockets”, to quote the GZA – though in fact several of the pants feature Acronym’s patented ‘Deep Pockets’ system. But the price reflects the quality of materials and construction, and the garments are designed to last a lifetime: you’re never going to require more technical features than this, unless you’re in a post-apocalyptic wasteland (and even then this collection will probably still be fit for purpose). Take a look at the range below, and click on the banner to shop the ACRONYM FW-1617 COLLECTION when the first drop lands at END. tomorrow, SATURDAY 16 SEPTEMBER – but act fast as stock is likely to be very limited…
